*Review* Buried in the Stars by Gretchen Tubbs

30323687

Synopsis
I had nothing until I met the Winters Family. Vera Winters and her husband Doc took me in as one of their own, providing a safe haven from my abusive and alcoholic mother. Their two sons became my constant companions and best friends during the lowest points of my life.
Sutton, with his love of the stars and his need to constantly rescue me.
Easton, fiercely protective and loyal.
I loved them both, as they loved me.
But only one of them would have the power to completely break me.
In the end I would have to choose between them - and disrupt the perfect family who had so generously welcomed me into their lives.
Did I choose the one I might never trust again, or the one who loved me more than I could ever love him in return?

This was the first book I've read by this author and it did not disappoint at all.  I read this book in one sitting.  I was gripped from the very beginning all the way to the end.  I really admire Scarlett's strength for everything that she had to endure at such a young age.  I don't think I was ready for the whirlwind of emotions that this book would take me through.  The characters in this story are very well developed.  I love the loyalty and and sense of family that was shown in this book.  I'm looking forward to reading other books by this author.

Moore to Love by Faith Andrews
Cover Design: Najla Qamber Designs
Release Date: July 18, 2016

Synopsis
I used to imagine that life would be easier, more enjoyable, if I were tall, blond, and supermodel thin. But real life—like the average, every day woman—is full of curves and imperfections, and many opportunities to learn that it’s not the number on the scale that measures the capacity of your heart. After years of struggling with poor self esteem and too many crash diets to count, I finally got wise—and hired a trainer. With an enthusiastic push from my brother’s fiancĂ© and more motivation than a Joel Osteen sermon, I, Madeline “Leni” Moore, am ready to ditch the oh-woe-is-me act. That is, until I smack head-on into a tree and collide with him. Lane Sheffield is the guy you drool over from afar. One look at him the first day on the runner’s track, and my panties are up in flames. He’s out of my league. Slim, sleek, and athletic to my plump, dull, and unfit. Lane has no reason to like me, but to my utter shock . . . he does and this newfound attention from the opposite sex has me all sorts of baffled. What starts out as a healthy journey to lose some of the extra me, turns into a quest to find my true self. Will the need to fit in and finally have someone to call my own lead me to my weight loss goal or my happiness goal? I've focused so long on being skinny, what will it take for me to learn the ultimate lesson—that beauty is only skin deep?

What Are You Reading Wednesday

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Today I'm participating on What Are You Reading Wednesday, hosted over at It's a Reading Thing.  This is my first time so I'm really excited.

How to participate:
Grab the book you are currently reading and answer three questions:
1. What’s the name of your current read?
2. Go to page 34 in your book or 34% in your eBook and share a couple of sentences.
3. Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?

1.  I am currently reading Unlocking Adeline by JD Hollyfield
2.  His genuine smile never falters as he places us in the center of the ballroom, once again lifting me up and setting me on top of his shoes.  I feel a slight tinge of guilt, knowing I am going to be leaving this place shortly and he will once again be, well, single if we were on real word terms.  In another time, I think I could probably enjoy someone like Christof.
3.  I just started this book yesterday, so I haven't gotten very far into it yet, but already this world at the author has created has sucked me in and has me intrigued.  I would definitely like to pay a visit to this world.  It seems like an interesting place for sure.

So, what about you guys?  What are you reading today?

I was participating in a group read of this book but I was enjoying it so much I read ahead and finished it really quickly. This story has absolutely everything! There are sweet moments, sexy moments, swoon worthy lines, heartbreak, suspense, and anything else that you could hope for in a good book. Evan is absolutely PERFECT! He is such a great man for Paige. The closeness of the friends and family in this book really warmed my heart. Not everyone has that so it's definitely something to hold on to and cherish. I also loved the cameo appearance! That was a nice surprise.

*Sale* Sacrifice by Adriana Locke

SACRIFICE
a USA Today Bestselling Novel

My life changed forever the night my husband died.
I was left with a shattered heart, a heap of bills, and our daughter, EVERLEIGH. I don’t want to rely on anyone, least of all CREW GENTRY. He’s my first love and the man who almost destroyed me, the man who has let me down every time I’ve needed him.
But when tragedy strikes a second time, Crew just might be my only hope.

My life changed forever the night my brother died.
I was left with a guilty conscience, a pile of mistakes, and little else. I take care of JULIA GENTRY, my brother’s widow and the love of my life, and their daughter. I know she doesn’t want my help, but she gets it anyway. I owe her that.

When another disaster hits, I’m given the opportunity to make things right. I’m taking it. I'm willing to sacrifice it all.

Praise for Sacrifice

“I've had Sacrifice on my TBR ever since one of my reader friends got to read it early and fell in love. I finally got to read it, and oh my gosh, am I glad I did. I always go for the more emotional stories, and Sacrifice definitely had me swimming in the feels. It's sad and profound, but throughout the story, I felt hope and belief building. I loved the way Adriana was able to capture the intense love between Crew and Julia, without belittling the love of Julia's first husband. That's an emotion that's very tricky to pull off, and Adriana did it beautifully! And Crew...Crew is just the perfect alpha male...there to protect, defend, and SACRIFICE. So good!” -NYT and USA Today  Bestselling author A.L. Jackson

“The beauty of Sacrifice is found in the writing that captivates you as much as the story. The characters are intriguing and Locke lures you into their world so easily that you can’t wait to read the next chapter, while rushing toward the end anxiously to see how it all plays out. The wonderfully brilliant ending had me holding my breath, my emotions lumped in my throat. And when I read The End, I felt satisfaction from a well-told story that I will recommend time and time again.” -NYT and USA Today Bestselling author S.L. Scott

“This story is on a whole other level, unlike anything I've ever read before. The words leaped from the pages, embedding themselves inside of my heart forever. This story is powerful, heartbreaking, beautiful, and simply a masterpiece to be savored long after you've finished reading. It was so very refreshing while at the same time completely unpredictable, a rare find these days. Adriana has outdone herself with this one. Not only is it one of my top favorite reads of 2015, it's a book I will cherish for all time.” -Author K. Langston

“Adriana Locke completely blew me away! Sacrifice is one of those reads that settles in your heart and sticks with you long after you’ve finished. Such angst, such loyalty, such HEART! It’s a gut wrenching, soul searching story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.” -Author J. a. Derouen

“Adriana Locke just broke my heart to pieces, then put it back together in the most amazing way! This has to be my favorite fighter story; it was a rollercoaster ride of every emotion imaginable! Crew goes through such an amazing transformation for Jules and Ever. The buildup to the fight between Crew and Davidson had my stomach in knots and, as a mother, I found myself in tears many times for Jules and her baby girl. There is a scene, right before the fight, where it is just Crew in the locker room ... I think it is one of the best, most emotional scenes I have ever read. This is an absolute must read!” -Rhi, Erotica Book Club

Tour My Bookcase!

Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.

This week's topic is:
Tour your bookcase for us!

Here is a tour of my bookcases.  Yes, plural.  I have three of them at the moment.  We all know us bookworms can't have just one bookcase, right? ;)

My first bookcase is in our living room and right now only has books on the top shelf.  I'm using that bookcase to hold all of my signed books.  So as of right now, here are all of my signed pretties.

The other two bookcases are in my bedroom.  I have a black 5 shelf bookcase and a brown 3 shelf bookcase.
The top shelf holds all of my books by an author that lives here in the same city as me, Tim Myers.  He also writes under different pen-names, such as Elizabeth Bright and Chris Cavender.
The second shelf is going to hold all of my Colleen Hoover books.  Right now I only have 4 of them.
The third shelf is just random books.  LOL.
The fourth shelf holds all of my cozy type mysteries.
The bottom shelf is all James Patterson.

Now, on to my last bookcase.
The top shelf has all of my Nicholas Sparks books and the Hunger Games series.
The second shelf has all of my Janet Evanovich books.
The bottom shelf, since I couldn't fit all of them on my other bookcase, holds James Patterson's Women's Murder Club books.

What do you have on your bookcase(s)?

Best of the Bunch - June 2016

Today I'm going to talk about the best book that I read in June.

I read 5 books last month, and my favorite one of the bunch by far was East of Redemption by Molly Lee.

East of Redemption is a story full of heartache, second chance romance, and amazing (sometimes dangerous) adventures.  Molly is an amazing storyteller and describes everything in a way that makes it feel like you are right there while everything's happening.  I couldn't put this book down and am looking forward to reading her other books.

From Goodreads:
Easton Wells has spent years burying his guilt by digging up some of the world’s most renowned treasures while surviving the dangerous terrains in which they’re located—all captured for television. When his producers threaten to axe the show, he has no choice but to turn to the last person he still trusts—the girl he left behind.

Rain Walker has made a name for herself documenting wild and endangered animals, and the last voice she expects to hear while shooting in South Africa is Easton’s. He’s more gorgeous than she remembers, but the pain in her heart is as fresh as ever. They’d once planned on spending the rest of their lives together, but after her father’s tragic death while on expedition in Israel with him, Easton bailed on their future together without an explanation. It’s been nine years, and yet the intense love they shared seems only a moment ago.

When he asks her to film his latest treasure hunt, Rain wants to turn him down instantly. But when he explains it’s to the same cave that swallowed her father, she can’t say no. She wants to experience the last place her father was alive, and she’s beyond curious about what happened to the boy she used to love.

They’ve got two weeks to locate a treasure that’s been lost for centuries, or Easton will lose the one thing in his life he’s come to depend on. As their old passion is reignited—and dark secrets uncovered—they face the extreme terrain of the mountain range that threatens them at every turn. As more than the wildlife and sharp drop-offs tries to kill them, Rain starts to question if the legendary treasure they seek—the same one her father had died trying to unearth—is truly meant to be found, or if some things, including their feelings for each other, are better left buried.
